Iranian Interior Minister Iskandar Momeni has traveled to Kyrgyzstan to participate in the meeting of interior ministers from member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).
According to Operative Information Center-OMM, citing state media reports, the Iranian delegation led by Momeni departed for Bishkek on Thursday. During his visit, the minister is scheduled to attend the plenary session and hold a series of bilateral meetings with his counterparts from other SCO member nations.
The discussions are expected to focus on strengthening regional security cooperation, combating transnational crime, and addressing shared challenges within the SCO framework. These meetings serve as a critical platform for member states to align their policies on border security and counter-terrorism efforts.
The Shanghai Cooperation Organization, established in 2001, is a permanent intergovernmental international organization. It has evolved into a significant Eurasian political, economic, and security alliance, with Iran formally becoming a full member in 2023, further integrating the country into the regional security architecture.
