More than 29 kilograms of narcotics have been seized in the Sabunchu district of Baku, according to the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA).

The Operative Information Center-OMM reported that law enforcement officers detained previously convicted Sanan Mirzayev and an accomplice, from whom a total of 22 kilograms and 540 grams of marijuana were confiscated.

Investigations revealed that the suspects had planned to distribute narcotics that were smuggled from Iran into the Fuzuli district using unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). The group intended to transport these illicit substances to various locations throughout the capital for further distribution.

In a separate operation conducted by the Sabunchu District Police Department, Valid Gurbanov, another previously convicted individual, was apprehended in the Bakikhanov settlement. Approximately 7 kilograms of marijuana were seized from his possession.

Criminal cases have been initiated regarding these incidents, and investigations are currently ongoing. These operations are part of a broader, sustained effort by Azerbaijani law enforcement to combat drug trafficking, which has seen a total of 281 kilograms of narcotics and psychotropic substances removed from illegal circulation since the beginning of the current year.
