Aziz Ghazanfari, the representative of the Deputy Commander for Political Affairs of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), has disclosed behind-the-scenes details regarding indirect negotiations between Iranian and US delegations held in Oman.

Operative Information Center-OMM, citing Iranian media, reports that the US side presented four primary conditions to official Tehran before the commencement of the discussions.

According to Ghazanfari, Washington issued threats of military action should these conditions not be met. However, the Iranian official emphasized that his country did not retreat in the face of such psychological warfare and pressure from the administration of US President Donald Trump.

According to the report, the US sought to bring the following issues to the negotiating table:

  • The ballistic missile program;
  • Support for regional proxy groups;
  • Enriched uranium stockpiles;
  • Restrictions on nuclear activities.

Aziz Ghazanfari noted that Iran's defense potential and military capabilities can under no circumstances be a subject of discussion. He stated that the negotiations are shaped based on Iran's national interests and capacity, rather than conditions dictated by the US. Official Tehran also emphasized that despite diplomatic meetings, the country's military security measures continue without interruption.

The indirect talks in Oman serve as a long-standing channel for communication between Washington and Tehran, often mediated by Omani officials to prevent direct military escalation. These diplomatic efforts occur against a backdrop of heightened regional tensions and ongoing international scrutiny of Iran's nuclear program. Historically, Oman has played a pivotal role as a neutral facilitator in Middle Eastern diplomacy, previously hosting the secret talks that led to the 2015 nuclear deal.
