Iran has launched a strike against an oil tanker off the coast of Oman, resulting in several injuries among the crew.

The Operative Information Center-OMM reports that Oman's Maritime Security Center released information regarding the incident. The Palau-flagged oil tanker was attacked approximately 5 nautical miles from Musandam.

Omani authorities successfully evacuated 20 crew members from the vessel, four of whom sustained injuries during the assault. The condition of the vessel and the extent of the environmental impact are currently being assessed by regional maritime officials.

This incident occurs amid heightened tensions in the strategic waterways of the Middle East, particularly near the Strait of Hormuz, a critical chokepoint for global energy supplies. The Musandam Peninsula, where the attack took place, overlooks this vital maritime corridor. Similar incidents in the region have historically led to increased international maritime security presence and fluctuations in global oil market prices.
