An investigation has been expanded following a parcel bomb explosion in Monaco that left three people injured. Authorities have issued an international warrant for a suspect involved in the attack.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, Monaco authorities have initiated an international search via Interpol, issuing a red notice in connection with the parcel bomb attack in the city.
Surveillance footage reportedly shows the suspect placing the package at the building's entrance shortly before the explosion occurred. Three individuals entering the building at the time sustained injuries of varying severity.
Reports indicate that the victims include 58-year-old Ukrainian businessman Vadim Yermolayev, his wife, and their 13-year-old child. After receiving initial medical treatment at the scene, they were transported to hospitals in Nice, France. No official statement regarding their current health status has been released.
Monaco prosecutors have identified a suspect, who is believed to have fled the country. A joint operation with French police is currently underway to apprehend the individual.
While the incident was not initially classified as a terrorist act, it is currently being investigated as an attempted murder. Vadim Yermolayev, a Cypriot citizen who has resided in Monaco since 2021, is known for his work in the real estate sector and was included in Ukraine's sanctions list in 2023. International media reports suggest the suspect used disguise techniques while fleeing the scene and moved toward the French border.
Monaco, a sovereign city-state on the French Riviera, is known for its high-security standards and luxury real estate, making such violent incidents rare. The principality maintains close law enforcement cooperation with France, which handles security matters in the region under various bilateral agreements.
