The Zangazur corridor, which is currently being realized, will become one of the main segments of the Middle Corridor, President Ilham Aliyev said.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the head of state made these remarks during the informal Summit of the Heads of State of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) held in Turkistan, Kazakhstan.
"Our cooperation with Turkic states in the field of transport is expanding. In the current global geopolitical conditions, the importance of the Middle Corridor is increasing further. The Zangazur corridor, which is being realized, will become one of the main segments of the Middle Corridor," the head of state noted. President Ilham Aliyev further added that customs procedures along the Middle Corridor are being simplified, highlighting that the "e-Permit" system developed within the OTS framework ensures the efficient issuance of electronic permits.
The Middle Corridor, officially known as the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR), is a strategic trade artery connecting China and the European Union through Central Asia, the Caspian Sea, and the South Caucasus. By integrating the Zangazur corridor into this network, Azerbaijan aims to provide a direct land link between its main territory and the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, while simultaneously creating a shorter transit route between Asia and Europe. This initiative is expected to significantly bolster Azerbaijan's position as a pivotal logistics hub in Eurasia and foster deeper economic integration among the member states of the Organization of Turkic States.
