President Ilham Aliyev has extended an official invitation to Friedrich Merz, leader of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) and head of the German Bundestag faction, to visit Azerbaijan.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the head of state announced the invitation during a joint press conference with the German politician. The discussions during the meeting centered on the prospects for bilateral relations and the strengthening of cooperation between the two nations.
Germany remains one of Azerbaijan's key partners in Europe, with significant cooperation spanning energy, trade, and political dialogue. High-level visits between Baku and Berlin serve as a crucial mechanism for deepening these ties, particularly as Azerbaijan continues to play a pivotal role in European energy security and regional connectivity projects.
