President Ilham Aliyev held a telephone conversation with President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev on May 17, according to the Presidential Administration of Azerbaijan.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the Azerbaijani leader congratulated President Tokayev on the occasion of his birthday, wishing him robust health and success in his state activities, while extending wishes for prosperity and progress to the brotherly people of Kazakhstan. President Tokayev expressed his deep gratitude for the attention and sincere congratulations.
During the conversation, the presidents emphasized the successful development of friendly and brotherly relations between Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan. They exchanged views on expanding cooperation across various sectors, highlighting the strategic partnership that exists between Baku and Astana. The leaders also recalled the informal Summit of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) held in the ancient city of Turkistan on May 15, noting its significance in strengthening solidarity and multilateral cooperation within the Turkic world.
Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan maintain high-level diplomatic ties, characterized by mutual support for territorial integrity and increasing economic integration. Both nations play pivotal roles in the Middle Corridor international transport route, which connects Asia and Europe through the Caspian region. The ongoing dialogue between President Ilham Aliyev and President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev underscores the commitment of both states to regional stability and the further institutionalization of the Organization of Turkic States.
