President Ilham Aliyev participated in the opening of the "Sadigjan's house," a historical and architectural monument in Shusha, on July 11, following extensive restoration works.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that Aydin Karimov, the Special Representative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Shusha district, briefed the head of state on the restoration process.

It was noted that during the occupation of Shusha, the building suffered significant neglect, leading to severe deterioration of the roof, flooring, and stonework. Many architectural elements were damaged, and the engineering and communication systems were rendered completely unusable.

In accordance with the decree signed by the President of Azerbaijan in 2022, funds were allocated for the design and restoration of the house where Mirza Asad oglu Sadig, known as Sadigjan—a prominent Azerbaijani musician, tar player, composer, and innovator of the tar—lived.

President Ilham Aliyev and First Vice President Mehriban Aliyeva visited the house in 2022. A year later, the head of state reviewed the conceptual design for the restoration, and works commenced in 2024.

The two-story house-museum, which includes a basement, is located on Sadigjan Street in Shusha. Its architectural features, including pointed arched windows and large stone masonry at the entrance, highlight its historical significance. The site is officially registered as a historical and architectural monument of national importance.

The restored museum now features exhibition spaces dedicated to Sadigjan’s life and work, the Azerbaijani musical heritage, and the rich literary environment of Shusha. The facility also includes a concert hall, a mugham exhibition room, a café, a souvenir shop, and a workshop for musical instruments.

During the visit, the head of state was introduced to the sculpture "The Voice of Eternity." This work serves as a symbolic artistic interpretation of the tar, Azerbaijan's national musical instrument. The composition features a tree emerging from the strings of the tar, symbolizing music rooted in the land, drawing strength from national memory, and representing rebirth and resilience. The sculpture, created by Honored Artist Rashad Mehdiyev, is dedicated to the rich cultural heritage of Shusha, often referred to as the cradle of Azerbaijani music.
