President Ilham Aliyev emphasized the unique blend of antiquity and modernity in Baku's architectural landscape, highlighting the preservation of historical heritage alongside modern urban development. Speaking at the opening ceremony of the 13th Session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13), the head of state noted that the capital reflects the talent of previous generations and Azerbaijan's commitment to maintaining its architectural legacy.

"Baku clearly demonstrates, in terms of both antiquity and novelty, the preservation of historical heritage, and the development of urban planning in a modern style, that our ancestors possessed great talent, and we are preserving our historical and architectural heritage," President Ilham Aliyev said, as reported by the Operative Information Center-OMM.

The World Urban Forum (WUF), established by the United Nations, is the premier global conference on sustainable urbanization. The 13th session serves as a platform for world leaders and experts to discuss the challenges of rapid urbanization and its impact on communities, cities, and economies. Azerbaijan has recently intensified its urban planning initiatives, particularly focusing on the "Smart City" and "Smart Village" concepts during the large-scale reconstruction projects in the liberated territories of Garabagh and East Zangazur, while simultaneously modernizing the infrastructure of Baku to meet international standards.
