İlham Əliyev: Azərbaycan qaz tədarükündə dünya birincisidir

Azerbaijan has secured the top position globally in terms of the number of countries supplied with natural gas via pipelines, President Ilham Aliyev announced. Speaking on the nation's growing influence in the energy sector, the head of state emphasized that the strategic expansion of export infrastructure has solidified Azerbaijan's role as a reliable partner for international markets.

According to Operative Information Center-OMM, President Ilham Aliyev made these remarks during an interview with Euronews television on May 18. The President noted that energy cooperation with Europe has accelerated significantly since 2020, following the commissioning of the Southern Gas Corridor. Currently, Azerbaijan exports natural gas to 16 countries through this corridor, with 12 of those being European nations, including 10 European Union member states. "The number of countries is increasing. The number of applications from countries wishing to start cooperation with us is also on the rise," the President stated.

The Southern Gas Corridor, a mammoth 3,500-kilometer pipeline project, stands as a cornerstone of Azerbaijan's energy strategy, aimed at diversifying energy routes and enhancing the energy security of the European continent. By leveraging its vast reserves in the Caspian Sea, particularly the Shah Deniz field, Azerbaijan continues to position itself as a critical alternative to traditional energy suppliers. This expansion aligns with Baku's long-term vision of transforming the country into a major regional energy hub, fostering economic stability and strengthening diplomatic ties across Eurasia.
