Creating a digital environment that protects children from real-world threats without depriving them of essential opportunities for development, learning, and social interaction remains a primary challenge, according to Hijran Huseynova, chair of the Milli Majlis (National Assembly) Committee on Family, Women and Children Affairs.

As reported by the Operative Information Center-OMM, Huseynova made these remarks during a joint session of the parliamentary committees on Human Rights, Family, Women and Children Affairs, and Legal Policy and State Building.

According to the MP, the rapid integration of next-generation technologies into daily life brings both significant advantages and inherent risks. She stressed that the current discourse should not focus on whether to ban technology, but rather on how to foster a safe digital ecosystem.

"In an era where social media has become an inseparable part of life, preventing uncontrolled usage is vital for the psychological well-being of children," Huseynova stated. "The question is not about 'to ban or not to ban.' The core issue is how to create a digital environment that protects children from real-world dangers without stripping them of the tools necessary for their growth and social development."

The Milli Majlis frequently addresses issues related to digital safety and youth protection, reflecting Azerbaijan's ongoing commitment to aligning national legislation with international standards regarding child rights and digital literacy in the modern era.
