Who is registered for initial military registration?
Under current legislation, male citizens who turn 15 in a given year are registered for initial military registration between January and May.
How is the process carried out?
Registration is conducted at the citizen’s place of residence through the local head offices, offices, departments and divisions of the State Service for Mobilization and Conscription, or, in cases provided for by law, through local executive authorities. The purpose is to place the citizen on initial military records and document their health status and other information relevant to conscription. To apply, the parent or legal representative of a citizen of pre-conscription age must enter the “Services” section, go to the “Military” subsection and select “Initial military registration.” In the new window, the applicant should select the field containing the first name, surname and patronymic of the child who turns 15 in the current year and click “New application.” At the next stage, the child’s brief biography must be written or uploaded as a file in PDF or image format. Applicants whose children receive secondary education abroad must also upload the relevant certificate and provide a mobile phone number.

- Prepare the required identity and other documents.
- Attend the registration and medical assessment stages at the specified time.
- If any information is incorrect, contact the local structure of the State Service for Mobilization and Conscription to request a correction.
Digital option for parents
Under an official innovation, a parent may submit an application through mygov for the initial military registration of a son who is due to turn 15. As the specific service steps may change, applicants should consult the current instructions on mygov when submitting an application.
Initial registration does not mean that a person will immediately be sent for military service; it is a military registration procedure. An individual’s conscription status is determined separately through a process established by law.
