The Milli Majlis (National Assembly) of Azerbaijan has officially adopted amendments to the Customs Code in the final reading during today's plenary session.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the new legislation mandates that for imported goods subject to technical regulations and referenced standards, importers must now submit certificates of conformity, declarations of conformity, and recognized foreign-origin compliance documents to customs authorities. These documents will be subject to verification during the customs clearance process, in accordance with the Law on Technical Regulation.

These requirements will only apply to imported goods two years after both the relevant technical regulations and the referenced standards have simultaneously entered into force. This transition period is designed to allow businesses and relevant stakeholders to adapt to the new regulatory framework without disrupting trade operations.

The Milli Majlis serves as the legislative body of Azerbaijan, responsible for enacting laws that govern the country's economic and social policies. These amendments are part of broader efforts by the Republic of Azerbaijan to modernize its customs administration, enhance transparency in trade operations, and align national standards with international technical requirements.
