Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov meets new Malaysian ambassador

Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov has met with the newly appointed Ambassador of Malaysia to Azerbaijan, Aznifah Isnariah Binti Abdul Ghani.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as reported by the Operative Information Center-OMM, the ambassador presented a copy of her credentials to Minister Jeyhun Bayramov during the meeting. The minister congratulated the ambassador on her appointment and wished her success in her diplomatic activities in Azerbaijan.

The meeting featured an exchange of views on the current state and future prospects of bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Malaysia, as well as matters of multilateral cooperation. Discussions focused on strengthening collaboration in economic, trade, tourism, and educational sectors, with an emphasis on increasing joint efforts in areas of mutual interest. The parties also reviewed Azerbaijan's transit-logistics capabilities and its pivotal role in regional energy security.

Addressing cooperation within international organizations, Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov highlighted the importance of mutual support between Azerbaijan and Malaysia within the UN, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), the Non-Aligned Movement, and the D-8. It was noted that the friendly relations between the two nations are reinforced by solidarity and mutual support on multilateral platforms.

The discussion also covered preparations for the upcoming Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) Summit to be held in Baku this year. Additionally, the minister noted that Azerbaijan is set to host the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Summit in 2027.

During the meeting, Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov briefed the ambassador on the current regional situation, as well as the ongoing restoration and reconstruction efforts in the post-conflict period.

Ambassador Aznifah Isnariah Binti Abdul Ghani expressed her gratitude for the warm reception and pledged to dedicate her efforts to further developing friendly relations and expanding bilateral and multilateral cooperation between Azerbaijan and Malaysia during her tenure.

The meeting concluded with an exchange of views on other issues of mutual interest.

Context: Azerbaijan and Malaysia maintain diplomatic relations characterized by active cooperation within international forums. The upcoming CICA Summit in Baku represents a significant diplomatic event, underscoring Azerbaijan's growing role as a venue for international dialogue and regional confidence-building initiatives.
