Under the chairmanship of Azerbaijan, the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) is prepared to advance circular "green tourism" across the continent.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that CICA Secretary General Kairat Sarybay made this statement during the "Circular Green Tourism in CICA Countries" conference held in Baku.

Sarybay emphasized that the conference highlights the dual nature of tourism, which serves as both a challenge and an opportunity. He noted that for local communities, tourism acts as a source of income and employment, while for small businesses, it provides access to new markets. For the younger generation, it offers skill development and active participation, and for states, it serves as a tool for cultural diplomacy and sustainable development. On a continental scale, it represents a pathway to deepening cooperation and strengthening mutual trust.

"The historic Silk Road connected peoples, trade, cultural traditions, and ideas. In our era, there is a need for a renewed Silk Road of tourism based on principles of sustainability, digital innovation, responsible interaction, value creation for local populations, and environmental protection," Sarybay stated. He added that CICA, under Azerbaijan's chairmanship, is ready to cooperate with member states, partner organizations, tourism institutions, and the private sector to promote this agenda.

CICA is a multi-national forum aimed at enhancing cooperation to promote peace, security, and stability in Asia. Azerbaijan, which currently holds the chairmanship, has been actively promoting initiatives that align with global sustainability goals, including the development of green energy and sustainable tourism corridors that bridge the gap between Asian markets.
