The Media Development Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan (MEDIA) has officially refuted reports circulating in the press regarding an alleged investigation by the Prosecutor General's Office into the Ganja City Executive Power. The agency clarified that these claims are entirely unfounded and based on inaccurate information.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the agency emphasized that disseminating such misinformation, which undermines the reputation of state bodies, is legally prohibited. "In accordance with the relevant provisions of the Law 'On Media,' the publication of fake news is strictly forbidden. We call on media entities and social media users to be responsible and refer only to official sources when disseminating information," the statement read.
The Media Development Agency was established in Azerbaijan to promote the development of the media sector, enhance its economic independence, and ensure the implementation of state policy regarding information security. This incident highlights the ongoing efforts by Azerbaijani authorities to combat the spread of disinformation and ensure the integrity of public information, especially concerning local governance and state institutions.
