Sabah FC has secured a historic qualification for the main stage of the UEFA Champions League.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the Azerbaijani champions hosted Israel's Hapoel Be'er Sheva in the return leg of the play-off round.
The match, held at the Tofiq Bahramov Republican Stadium, concluded with a 3-2 victory for the Azerbaijani side in regular time. Igor Zlatanovic scored for the visitors in the 10th minute, followed by Guy Mizrahi in the 61st minute. Sabah's goals were netted by Kristian Nwachukwu (38'), Umarali Rakhmonaliyev (74'), and Tellur Mutallimov (90+4').
As the first leg in Romania ended in a 2-1 victory for the visitors, the aggregate score necessitated extra time. In the additional period, Patrick Orfe Mbina scored in the 101st minute, and Joy-Lens Mickels added another in the 115th minute, sealing a decisive win for the Baku-based club.
This victory marks a significant milestone for Sabah FC, as it is the first time in the club's history that they have advanced to the main stage of the UEFA Champions League, further elevating Azerbaijan's presence in elite European club football.
