Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio held a telephone conversation to discuss pressing regional issues and bilateral relations.

According to Operative Information Center-OMM, the two diplomats reviewed recent developments in the region and explored prospects for strategic cooperation. The discussion primarily focused on the current security dynamics in Syria and the "Peace Council" initiative proposed by the United States to de-escalate tensions in the Gaza Strip.

Diplomatic relations between Turkey and the United States remain a critical component of regional security within the NATO framework. This high-level communication follows the inauguration of US President Donald Trump in January 2025, signaling a continued commitment to diplomatic engagement between Ankara and Washington on Middle Eastern stability, counter-terrorism efforts, and strategic partnership goals.
