Maxim Prévot, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Affairs, and Development Cooperation of the Kingdom of Belgium, has held a telephone conversation with Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) released information regarding the call.

During the telephone conversation, the ministers discussed the current security situation in the Middle East, bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Belgium, and prospects for cooperation within the framework of the European Union. Both parties expressed deep concern over the ongoing military escalation in the Middle East and emphasized the critical importance of resolving the conflict through diplomatic means.

The Belgian minister expressed solidarity with Azerbaijan regarding the drone attack launched from Iranian territory toward Nakhchivan. Furthermore, Prévot extended his gratitude to Azerbaijan for the conditions provided to ensure the evacuation of Belgian citizens from Iran. The ministers also exchanged views on the normalization process between Azerbaijan and Armenia, with Jeyhun Bayramov briefing his counterpart on the measures taken toward ensuring sustainable peace and stability in the region.

The sides emphasized the importance of constructive dialogue and existing mechanisms, such as political consultations, mutual visits, and high-level contacts, to further develop cooperation between Azerbaijan and Belgium on matters of mutual interest. This diplomatic engagement reflects Azerbaijan's growing role as a regional mediator and a reliable partner in international security and evacuation logistics. Relations between Baku and Brussels continue to evolve within the framework of the EU's Eastern Partnership, focusing on energy security and regional stability in the South Caucasus.
