Intermittent rainfall, accompanied by heavy downpours and lightning, continues to affect several regions across Azerbaijan. The weather conditions have deteriorated significantly, particularly in the western and northern parts of the country, following a recent meteorological warning.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, citing data from the National Hydrometeorological Service as of 10:00 AM on August 14, the precipitation has been particularly intense in mountainous and foothill areas.
The recorded rainfall levels highlight the severity of the weather system: Saribash (Gakh) received 53 mm (46% of the monthly norm), Balakan 45 mm (61%), Zagatala 44 mm (60%), and Khinalig 40 mm (119%). Other regions, including Guba, Tovuz, Aghdam, Ganja, and the Absheron Peninsula, also reported varying levels of precipitation.
The National Hydrometeorological Service continues to monitor the situation closely. Such weather patterns are common in Azerbaijan during the transition periods between seasons, where mountainous topography often exacerbates localized heavy rainfall and sudden thunderstorms, necessitating caution for residents in affected areas.
