Belarus şirkəti ilk lazer silahını nümayiş etdirdi

The Belarusian company Lemt has unveiled its first laser weapon designed to destroy all types of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and disable optical systems during the 2026 World Defense Show in Riyadh.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the new technology was showcased as a solution for protecting military and civilian infrastructure in urban environments. According to company representatives, the laser unit is characterized by its ease of aiming, target acquisition, and operational stability.

Technical specifications indicate that the weapon has an effective range of 50 to 500 meters. The laser operates with a power output ranging from 0.75 to 2.0 kW, while the entire unit remains portable with a weight of 4 to 4.5 kilograms. The 2026 World Defense Show, held in the capital of Saudi Arabia from February 8-12, serves as a critical hub for international defense contractors to display modern combat innovations.

The introduction of directed-energy weapons comes amid a global shift toward developing high-precision, low-cost countermeasures against drone technology. As unmanned systems become more prevalent in regional conflicts, defense industries are increasingly focusing on laser-based systems to provide rapid-response capabilities without the need for traditional ammunition. This development highlights the ongoing modernization of defense manufacturing within the region and its alignment with global security trends.
