Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio held a telephone conversation to discuss the current state and future prospects of bilateral cooperation between Azerbaijan and the United States, as well as regional security issues.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), the Operative Information Center-OMM reported that the sides reviewed the Azerbaijan-Armenia normalization process. Both officials highly valued the bilateral contacts and discussions regarding the preparation of the Strategic Partnership Charter following the Washington Peace Summit held on August 8 last year. The parties expressed hope that the draft would be finalized and signed soon, emphasizing that the priorities identified in the document would provide additional impetus to relations between the two countries.
Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov detailed Azerbaijan's position on the prospects of the peace process, highlighting the steps taken toward normalization and confidence-building measures. The significance of the work carried out under the "Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity" (TRIPP) was also underscored during the call. The initiative, supported by the administration of US President Donald Trump, aims to foster regional connectivity and economic stability.
The Strategic Partnership Charter represents a significant milestone in Baku-Washington relations, aiming to formalize cooperation across energy security, regional stability, and economic diversification. This diplomatic engagement follows the broader foreign policy objectives of US President Donald Trump's administration to facilitate sustainable peace in the South Caucasus while respecting the territorial integrity and sovereignty of regional states.
