Heavy rainfall in Baku has led to significant traffic congestion across several major thoroughfares in the capital, according to the Intelligent Transport Management Center (ITMC).
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the adverse weather conditions have severely impacted traffic flow, causing delays for commuters across the city.
As of the latest update, traffic density is being observed on the following routes:
- Baku-Sumgait highway, towards the "20 Yanvar" metro station;
- Ali Mustafayev Street, towards Ziya Bunyadov Avenue;
- Ziya Bunyadov Avenue, from the intersection with Ahmad Rajabli Street to the intersection with Ataturk Avenue;
- 1st Lake Side Road, towards Ziya Bunyadov Avenue;
- Airport highway, towards the "Koroglu" metro station;
- Heydar Aliyev Avenue, main road, towards the city center;
- Uzeyir Hajibeyli Street, up to the intersection with Azadlig Avenue;
- Rashid Behbudov Street, towards the Central Bank;
- Yusif Safarov Street, towards the city center;
- 8 Noyabr Avenue, from the intersection with Suleyman Ahmadov Street towards the city center.
The Intelligent Transport Management Center (ITMC) is responsible for monitoring traffic flow in Azerbaijan's capital. During periods of heavy precipitation, the agency frequently issues advisories to drivers to exercise caution and adjust their speed to prevent accidents on slippery road surfaces, as Baku's infrastructure often experiences temporary bottlenecks during severe weather events.
