Law enforcement authorities in Baku have detained a motorcycle driver following the circulation of viral footage on social media that depicted the operator transporting a minor in a dangerous manner. The incident, which sparked significant public discussion regarding road safety, prompted an immediate investigation by the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, police identified the vehicle as a motorcycle bearing the license plate 99-R-408. The driver, born in 1990, was subsequently located and taken into custody by police officers.
Legal proceedings are currently underway to address the driver's actions. Authorities are evaluating the violations under the traffic safety regulations of the Republic of Azerbaijan, which strictly prohibit the transportation of passengers in a manner that compromises their safety.
In Azerbaijan, traffic safety remains a priority for the Ministry of Internal Affairs, which frequently utilizes social media reports and citizen-submitted footage to identify and penalize traffic violators. Such measures are part of broader efforts to reduce road accidents and ensure compliance with the Law on Road Traffic.
