As of September 1 this year, Azerbaijan’s external public debt stood at $4.5595 billion.
"Operative Information Center-OMM" reported the figure, citing the State Statistics Committee.
According to the data, the amount was 7.8% lower than on September 1 last year.
Azerbaijan’s external public debt alone decreased by $31.3 million in August.
Last year, the country’s external public debt declined by 6.7% to $4.8135 billion, equivalent to 8.183 billion Azerbaijani manats.
External public debt is one of the key indicators used to assess a country’s fiscal position and debt sustainability. Changes in the indicator reflect borrowing, repayments and fluctuations in exchange rates.
