Azerbaijan has secured the top position globally in terms of the number of countries receiving its natural gas via pipelines, with the total number of importing nations reaching 16. This milestone underscores the country's growing role as a pivotal energy hub for both regional and European markets.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that Prime Minister Ali Asadov announced these figures during his speech at a meeting of heads of government and vice presidents of the member states of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS). "Azerbaijan's energy policy is not limited to hydrocarbon resources. Our country is actively promoting a green energy agenda, placing special emphasis on the development of renewable energy sources," the Prime Minister emphasized.
The Prime Minister further noted that leveraging the renewable energy potential of Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, and Kazakhstan to foster interregional ties remains a primary direction of cooperation. He added that Kyrgyzstan's intention to join the collaboration for exporting green energy to Europe is highly welcomed by the Azerbaijani government.
This expansion of energy exports aligns with Azerbaijan's strategic objective to diversify its economy and strengthen its position as a reliable guarantor of energy security. By integrating green energy initiatives with its established natural gas infrastructure, Azerbaijan aims to facilitate a sustainable energy transition across the Turkic world and beyond, supporting the global shift toward carbon neutrality while maintaining its leadership in traditional energy sectors.
