Ankara: İran-ABŞ danışıqlarından narahat deyilik

Turkey is not concerned by the fact that ongoing negotiations between Iran and the United States are being held in Oman rather than Istanbul, according to official statements from Ankara.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that these views were expressed by Burhanettin Duran, a senior official at the Presidential Administration of the Republic of Turkiye. He emphasized that the primary focus for Ankara is the extent of Turkey's active participation and influence within the broader diplomatic process.

“Even if negotiations take place in other countries, we support these meetings being held through diplomatic channels. The main issue is how active a role we play in this process. This is very important in terms of the contacts maintained with both Iran and other parties. Turkey maintains an active position not only between the US and Iran but also within the framework of general regional balance and interests,” Burhanettin Duran noted.

The diplomatic engagement between Washington and Tehran comes at a significant time following the inauguration of US President Donald Trump in January 2025. Turkey has historically acted as a key mediator in regional conflicts and nuclear discussions involving Iran, leveraging its unique geographical and political position as a NATO member with deep ties to the Middle East. The shift of specific dialogue venues to Muscat is viewed by analysts not as a sidelining of Ankara, but as part of a multi-channel diplomatic approach to de-escalate regional tensions.
