ANAMA: 670 hektar ərazi minalardan təmizləndi

During the humanitarian demining operations conducted in the liberated territories of Azerbaijan from February 2 to 8, 8 anti-tank mines, 97 anti-personnel mines, and 223 unexploded ordnances (UXO) were discovered and neutralized.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, this information was highlighted in the weekly report released by the Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA) regarding its ongoing operations.

Official statistics indicate that a total of 669.1 hectares of land were fully cleared of mines and explosive remnants during the reporting period. The demining process is being executed through a coordinated effort involving ANAMA, the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the State Border Service, and four private companies.

Operations were carried out across the Tartar, Aghdara, Kalbajar, Aghdam, Khojaly, Khankendi, Shusha, Khojavand, Lachin, Füzuli, Jabrayil, Qubadli, and Zangilan regions. Additionally, clearance activities took place in the villages of Bağanıs Ayrım, Aşağı Əskipara, Xeyrımlı, and Qızılhacılı within the Gazakh district.

The extensive contamination of Azerbaijan's liberated territories with landmines remains a significant challenge for the post-conflict reconstruction and the safe return of internally displaced persons. Since the end of the 2020 conflict, Azerbaijan has prioritized humanitarian demining as a fundamental step toward restoring infrastructure and agricultural activity in the Garabagh region. The international community has frequently been briefed on the scale of the threat, as the presence of these hidden explosives continues to pose a grave risk to civilian lives and regional development.
