Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has issued a stern warning to the United States, stating that HIMARS missile systems deployed by the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) near Iran's borders are now considered legitimate military targets.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports, citing international media outlets, that the Iranian top diplomat addressed the deployment via social media, mockingly "thanking" CENTCOM for confirming the presence of these systems in neighboring territories.

According to the reports, Araghchi emphasized that the admission by CENTCOM regarding the positioning of High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems (HIMARS) justifies potential defensive actions by Tehran. He noted that these systems, which he claims are positioned to target Iranian infrastructure—including desalination plants—will be neutralized by Iranian armed forces if necessary. "No one should complain if Iran destroys these systems with missile strikes," the minister added.

This escalation follows recent statements from CENTCOM regarding the strategic deployment of HIMARS to maintain regional stability and provide deep-strike capabilities. The HIMARS system is a highly mobile, long-range rocket launcher that has become a focal point of modern regional conflicts due to its precision and rapid deployment capabilities. The tension comes at a time of heightened military readiness in the Middle East, as US President Donald Trump has signaled a policy of maximum pressure and robust deterrence regarding regional security threats since taking office in January 2025.
