More than 70,000 foreign nationals who violated Russian laws have been deported from the country in 2025.
Russian Interior Minister Vladimir Kolokoltsev announced that 72,000 foreigners were expelled for various legal violations, Operative Information Center-OMM reports.
Addressing the scale of the enforcement actions, the minister noted that the number of deportations could have been significantly higher if more resources were available. "In 2025, 72,000 foreigners were deported for breaking the law. Of course, the question arises: could we have deported ten times more? If there were more funding, we could have," Kolokoltsev stated during his briefing.
This surge in deportations comes amid Russia's tightening of migration policies and increased oversight of foreign residents. In recent years, the Russian government has introduced stricter regulations regarding labor permits, registration procedures, and administrative offenses. These measures are part of a broader national strategy to regulate the labor market and enhance internal security, reflecting a trend of more rigorous immigration enforcement across the region.
