A total of 1,455.4 hectares of land were cleared of mines and unexploded ordnance (UXO) in Azerbaijan's liberated territories between April 13 and 19. During the operations, 17 anti-tank mines, 62 anti-personnel mines, and 460 UXO were discovered and neutralized.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, these figures were released in the weekly report of the Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA) regarding humanitarian demining operations. The operations were conducted by ANAMA, the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the State Border Service, and four private companies across several regions, including Tartar, Aghdara, Kalbajar, Aghdam, Khojaly, Khankendi, Shusha, Khojavand, Lachin, Fuzuli, Jabrayil, Qubadli, and Zangilan. Demining efforts also covered the recently liberated villages of Baganis Ayrim, Ashaghi Askipara, Kheyrimli, and Gizilhajili in the Gazakh district.
Azerbaijan remains one of the most landmine-contaminated countries in the world following decades of occupation. Since the end of the 2020 conflict, the Azerbaijani government has prioritized large-scale demining operations to ensure the safe return of internally displaced persons and to facilitate the "Great Return" program. These efforts are essential for the restoration of infrastructure and the revitalization of agriculture in the Garabagh and East Zangazur economic regions.
