Officials in Azerbaijan will face a fine of 3,000 manats for hiring or continuing employment of individuals diagnosed with drug dependency for positions or professions where such activity is restricted. This regulation is outlined in the newly added Article 192.13 of the Code of Administrative Offenses, which was recently approved by President Ilham Aliyev.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the legislative updates aim to enhance workplace safety and ensure compliance with medical standards in sensitive sectors. Furthermore, under the newly introduced Article 192.14, officials will be fined 1,000 manats for hiring employees for restricted roles without obtaining the mandatory medical certificate regarding the worker's health, as required by the Labor Code.
These legislative changes are part of a broader effort by the Republic of Azerbaijan to strengthen labor discipline and public health standards. By mandating rigorous medical screenings for specific high-responsibility professions, the government seeks to mitigate risks associated with drug dependency in the workplace, ensuring that both public safety and professional integrity are maintained across various sectors of the economy.
