Australian Minister for Defence Industry Pat Conroy has stated that relations between Turkey and Australia are currently at their strongest point in history.

According to Operative Information Center-OMM, citing reports from TRT Haber, the minister emphasized that the rapid development of Turkey's defense industry and the government's strategic investments in this sector are creating significant new opportunities for bilateral cooperation.

Minister Conroy expressed his appreciation for the hospitality shown during his visit to Turkey. He specifically praised the organization of the Defense Industry Forum, which was held in parallel with the NATO Leaders Summit, describing it as a positive and timely initiative.

"One of NATO's primary priorities today is strengthening defense industry infrastructure and expanding production capabilities," Conroy noted. He added that while many nations are increasing their defense spending, it is equally critical to expand industrial manufacturing capacity to meet global security demands. He affirmed that Australia remains open to deepening defense industry collaboration with NATO allies.

Furthermore, the minister reiterated Australia's support for Turkey's bid to host the UN Climate Change Conference (COP31). He noted that this collaboration on global environmental issues serves as another pillar that will contribute to the further development of relations between the two nations.

The strengthening of ties between Ankara and Canberra comes at a time when global defense alliances are re-evaluating supply chains and industrial cooperation. Turkey, a key NATO member with a robust defense manufacturing sector, is increasingly positioning itself as a central hub for international defense partnerships.
