Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has stated that diplomacy is significantly more effective when combined with military strength and international pressure.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the head of state made these remarks on his Telegram channel while commenting on the overnight attacks by Russian Armed Forces against Ukrainian territory. The President emphasized that the path to a just resolution requires a multifaceted approach from the international community.
"Our diplomacy will be more effective if there is justice and strength. Pressure on Russia means sanctions pressure, as well as continuous and rapid support for the Ukrainian army and our air defense systems," Zelenskyy noted in his appeal to Western partners. He underscored that the resilience of the country's defense infrastructure plays a decisive role at the diplomatic negotiating table.
The statement comes amid intensifying discussions regarding potential peace negotiations in Geneva. Historically, Ukraine has maintained that any diplomatic settlement must be based on the principles of international law and territorial integrity. Since the escalation of the conflict, Western allies have provided various levels of military and economic aid, though Kyiv continues to advocate for more advanced air defense capabilities to protect civilian infrastructure from ongoing aerial strikes.
