Yevgeni Kuksevich has stepped down from his position as head coach of the Azerbaijan national futsal team and the "Araz-Nakhchivan" club.
Mahmud Sadigov, Vice President of the Nakhchivan-based club, confirmed the development to the Operative Information Center-OMM.
Sadigov explained the reasoning behind the decision, noting that the Russian specialist's contract expired at the end of July. "There will be certain changes at 'Araz-Nakhchivan' this season. We intend to reduce the number of foreign players and prioritize local national team members. Consequently, we have parted ways with Yevgeni Kuksevich. Furthermore, the AFFA Executive Committee did not approve his candidacy for the national team, meaning he will no longer serve in either capacity," Sadigov stated.
Regarding the search for a successor, Sadigov added, "A new head coach for the Nakhchivan club will be appointed within the next 10 days. Once the process is finalized, the public will be informed. It is highly likely that the same specialist will not lead both the national team and the club simultaneously moving forward."
It should be noted that Yevgeni Kuksevich was appointed head coach of "Araz-Nakhchivan" in January 2025 and took charge of the national team in June 2025. He had been managing both roles in parallel. The "Araz-Nakhchivan" club is a prominent entity in Azerbaijani futsal, consistently competing at the highest level of the national championship and representing the country in international tournaments, which underscores the significance of the upcoming leadership transition.
