Croatian Prime Minister Andrey Plenkovic has extended his congratulations to Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan following his party's victory in the recent parliamentary elections.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, which cited the press service of the Armenian Prime Minister's Administration, the announcement was originally reported by the Armenpress news agency.
In his congratulatory letter, Prime Minister Plenkovic expressed a strong interest in continuing bilateral cooperation and further strengthening relations between Croatia and Armenia. "I congratulate Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on his election victory. I look forward to continuing our cooperation and further strengthening the relationship between Croatia and Armenia. Croatia firmly supports Armenia's reform efforts and the deepening of its partnership with the European Union, based on our shared commitment to democracy, stability, and prosperity," the letter stated.
For context, the parliamentary elections held in Armenia on June 7 resulted in three political forces surpassing the electoral threshold. According to preliminary results, the Civil Contract Party secured 49.825% of the vote, followed by the Strong Armenia bloc with 23.281%, and the Armenia bloc with 9.934%. These results indicate that the Civil Contract Party has secured a parliamentary majority, granting it the mandate to form the new government. Croatia, as a member state of the European Union, frequently engages with Eastern Partnership countries to encourage democratic reforms and closer alignment with EU standards.
