Iran has established a leadership council to oversee the transition phase following the eventual death of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, which will include President Masud Pezeshkian, Judiciary Chief Gholam-Hossein Mohseni-Ejei, and a legal expert from the Guardian Council.

According to Operative Information Center-OMM, citing Al Jazeera, the announcement was made by one of the Supreme Leader's aides. The council is designed to ensure political stability and constitutional continuity during the selection process for a new leader within the Islamic Republic.

The Supreme Leader of Iran holds ultimate authority over all state matters, including foreign policy, the military, and the judiciary. Under the Iranian constitution, the Assembly of Experts is the body responsible for electing the successor. This transition planning comes at a critical time for the region, as Iran navigates complex internal economic challenges and shifting geopolitical dynamics in the Middle East.
