US Vice President James David Vance has expressed confidence that the realization of a peace agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia will establish long-term tranquility and prevent future confrontations in the region.
"We are working to ensure that no conflict restarts between the two countries, that contacts are established between the peoples, and we want to move forward in this way," Operative Information Center-OMM reports, quoting the Vice President during a joint press statement with Azerbaijan's President Ilham Aliyev.
Touching upon the steps taken toward achieving a sustainable peace, the Vice President added: "For this, great thanks are due to President Ilham Aliyev." James David Vance further emphasized that the implementation of the peace treaty is a clear manifestation of President Ilham Aliyev's leadership qualities and his commitment to regional security.
The meeting comes at a pivotal time as Azerbaijan continues large-scale restoration and reconstruction projects in the liberated territories of Garabagh. The normalization process between Azerbaijan and Armenia remains a central focus of international diplomacy in the South Caucasus, with Baku consistently advocating for a peace treaty based on the principles of international law and territorial integrity. Under the administration of US President Donald Trump, Washington has signaled a continued interest in supporting direct dialogue to ensure a final and lasting resolution to the decades-long dispute.
