Sinem Dedetas, the mayor of the Uskudar district in Istanbul, Turkey, has been detained by authorities.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports, citing Haber Global, that the Istanbul Anatolian Chief Public Prosecutor's Office released an official statement regarding the development.

According to the statement, an investigation has been launched into allegations of bribery, embezzlement, and the formation of a criminal organization. As part of the ongoing probe, security forces conducted operations across 11 different locations. Following these raids, Uskudar Mayor Sinem Dedetas and five other individuals were taken into custody.

It should be noted that this incident occurs amidst a broader series of anti-corruption operations targeting municipal administrations across Turkey's 81 provinces. In recent months, numerous municipal officials and mayors have faced similar investigations as part of the country's intensified efforts to combat corruption and ensure administrative accountability within local government bodies.
