SOFAZ and Brookfield Asset Management sign strategic protocol

President Ilham Aliyev met with Connor Teskey, the President of Brookfield Asset Management, on January 21 in Davos.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that during the conversation, the parties exchanged views on investment opportunities and potential projects in Azerbaijan, taking into account Brookfield Asset Management's global investment activities focused on real assets. The discussions highlighted the ongoing cooperation between the company and the State Oil Fund of the Republic of Azerbaijan (SOFAZ).

Within the framework of the meeting, a protocol of intent on long-term strategic cooperation was signed between SOFAZ and Brookfield Asset Management. The document aims to further deepen existing strategic relations on an institutional basis and expand the Fund's access to prestigious global investment platforms. Furthermore, the agreement outlines plans to evaluate capital investment opportunities of up to $1.4 billion by SOFAZ into funds managed by Brookfield and joint investment projects over a period of 3-4 years.

The cooperation is expected to explore investment potential in Azerbaijan across key sectors, including energy transition and storage, renewable energy, digital infrastructure, and other strategic areas. This partnership aligns with Azerbaijan's broader economic strategy to diversify its investment portfolio and integrate into global financial networks through high-value infrastructure and green energy initiatives.

The meeting took place on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland. The Davos Forum serves as a premier global platform where heads of state, business leaders, and international organizations gather to discuss pressing economic issues and foster public-private partnerships. For Azerbaijan, the forum provides a critical venue to showcase its investment climate and secure international cooperation for its sustainable development goals.
