Turkish law enforcement agencies have conducted widespread operations against drug traffickers across 24 provinces in the country.
According to Operative Information Center-OMM, citing TRT Haber, the coordinated raids targeted individuals suspected of distributing narcotics via social media platforms. The operations were carried out in Adiyaman, Afyonkarahisar, Antalya, Aydin, Balikesir, Batman, Denizli, Diyarbakir, Edirne, Hakkari, Hatay, Istanbul, Izmir, Kahramanmaras, Kayseri, Kocaeli, Malatya, Manisa, Mersin, Sakarya, Samsun, Tokat, Usak, and Van.
As a result of the security measures, authorities seized 412 kilograms of narcotics and 367,431 pills. Out of 202 detained suspects, 122 have been formally arrested, while 80 others were released under judicial control measures.
Turkey has intensified its counter-narcotics efforts in recent years, viewing the suppression of drug trafficking as a critical component of its national security strategy. The country serves as a key transit route for illicit substances moving between Asia and Europe, leading the government to prioritize large-scale intelligence-led operations to dismantle distribution networks. Investigations into the current case remain ongoing.
