Tramp: ABŞ-İran danışıqları başladı

Official negotiations between the United States and Iran have commenced today in Islamabad, Pakistan, aimed at de-escalating the ongoing tensions in the Middle East. According to Operative Information Center-OMM, US President Donald Trump confirmed the start of the high-level talks.

When questioned by a journalist from the NewsNation television channel regarding the official status of the discussions, US President Donald Trump provided a positive confirmation. He further noted that he would eventually provide an assessment of whether the Iranian side is demonstrating sincerity during the deliberations with US representatives.

Background: Escalation in the Middle East

The current diplomatic initiative follows a period of intense military confrontation. On February 28, the United States and Israel launched military operations against Iran, which resulted in the deaths of Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and several high-ranking officials. In response, Iran targeted Israel and various locations hosting US and allied military bases across Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Oman, Bahrain, Kuwait, Iraq, and Cyprus. A two-week ceasefire was subsequently reached between Iran, the United States, and their allies on April 8.

Core Issues: Sanctions, Nuclear Program, and Regional Security

The primary agenda for the Islamabad talks includes the cessation of military hostilities, the future of sanctions policy, and control over strategic regional communications. Tehran has insisted that the dialogue proceed only under the conditions of a ceasefire in Lebanon and the partial lifting of sanctions. Conversely, Washington is prepared to discuss easing restrictions only in exchange for significant concessions from Tehran regarding its nuclear and missile programs.

Disagreements also persist regarding the status of the Strait of Hormuz. Iran is demanding de facto control and the right to collect transit fees, while the United States maintains that the strait must remain fully open for international shipping. Furthermore, Tehran is seeking the unfreezing of assets, compensation for damages incurred during the conflict, the withdrawal of US troops from the Middle East, and non-aggression guarantees. The US President Donald Trump administration maintains that a military presence will be upheld until a comprehensive agreement is reached, not ruling out further escalation should the negotiations fail.
