US President Donald Trump has stated that the United States does not intend to protect the interests of countries that refuse to provide military support to American initiatives.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, Trump shared these remarks on his Truth Social account, addressing nations hesitant to participate in operations to keep the Strait of Hormuz open. The President presented two distinct options to countries, including the United Kingdom, that rely on the passage for fuel but have declined to join active measures against Iran.
"To all those countries, like the United Kingdom, that cannot get fuel because of the Strait of Hormuz and refuse to participate in 'beheading' Iran—I have a proposal for you: Proposal number one, buy oil from the United States. We have plenty of it," Trump wrote. "Proposal number two, get your courage together, go to the strait, and take it. You will have to start learning how to fight for yourselves. The United States will not always help you, just as you did not help us. Iran is truly ruined. The hard part of the work has been done. Go get your own oil yourself."
The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world's most strategically important chokepoints, through which approximately one-fifth of the world's total oil consumption passes daily. Located between the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman, it remains a focal point of global energy security and geopolitical tension. US President Donald Trump's latest statements signal a significant shift toward a more transactional foreign policy, emphasizing that international security cooperation must be a reciprocal arrangement between Azerbaijan's Western partners and the United States.
