Armenian politician Tigran Arzakantsyan has formally denied allegations of domestic violence leveled against him by his wife, Natalia Rotenberg.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, Arzakantsyan addressed the accusations for the first time in a video statement released on social media. He categorically rejected the claims, stating that there had been no significant conflict during their time together and that the first serious disagreement occurred during a recent phone conversation.
The politician alleged that the escalation of the situation was influenced by an unnamed third party. He asserted that he has made every effort to protect his family and suggested that his wife’s decision to contact the police was a direct result of external pressure.
Reports of the couple's impending divorce first surfaced in April. Natalia Rotenberg filed for divorce and subsequently lodged a complaint with the police, accusing her husband of domestic abuse. Her lawyer, Asmik Martirosyan, stated that the conflict stemmed from jealousy and confirmed that a court has issued a restraining order prohibiting Arzakantsyan from approaching his wife.
Tigran Arzakantsyan and Natalia Rotenberg were married in 2019. Rotenberg, a prominent figure in her own right, obtained Armenian citizenship in 2022. The case has drawn significant public attention in Armenia, highlighting the complexities of high-profile domestic disputes and the legal processes surrounding them.
