Approximately 15,000 US military personnel will participate in "Project Liberty," an operation designed to escort vessels currently stranded in the Strait of Hormuz due to ongoing military conflict.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, US Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed that the military support for the operation will include guided-missile destroyers, more than 100 land and sea-based aircraft, various unmanned platforms, and 15,000 service members.
US President Donald Trump previously announced that the operation is scheduled to commence on the morning of May 4, Middle East time. The president emphasized that the primary objective is to ensure the safe exit of ships from the Strait of Hormuz. "If there is any interference with this humanitarian process, unfortunately, force will be used against that interference," the American leader stated.
The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world's most strategically vital maritime chokepoints, serving as a primary transit route for approximately one-fifth of the world's total oil consumption. Tensions in the region frequently impact global energy markets and international maritime security. Project Liberty represents a significant escalation in efforts to maintain freedom of navigation in these contested waters, reflecting the United States' strategic commitment to protecting international trade routes and ensuring regional stability.
