The Speaker of the Milli Majlis (National Assembly) of Azerbaijan, Sahiba Gafarova, has commenced a meeting with the Speaker of the Armenian Parliament, Alen Simonyan, during her official visit to Türkiye.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the discussions are being held on the sidelines of the 152nd Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) taking place in Istanbul. The meeting follows previous rounds of parliamentary diplomacy aimed at discussing regional peace and cooperation between the two South Caucasus nations.
The Inter-Parliamentary Union, established in 1889, serves as a global organization for national parliaments, facilitating political dialogue and promoting democratic governance. The 152nd Assembly in Istanbul brings together parliamentary delegations from across the globe to address international security, sustainable development, and diplomatic mediation, providing a neutral platform for bilateral engagements between member states.
