The Tagansky District Court in Moscow, Russia, has issued rulings regarding legal cases filed against Telegram and Google.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, both platforms were found guilty of violating national legislation by failing to remove content deemed prohibited under Russian law.
Under the court's decision, Telegram has been fined 18.4 million rubles, while Google faces a penalty of 7.6 million rubles.
This development is part of a broader trend in Russia, where authorities frequently impose fines on foreign internet platforms. The Russian government has previously sanctioned major digital services, including YouTube, Instagram, X (formerly Twitter), and TikTok, citing similar failures to comply with local content regulations and legislative requirements.
