Russia has no plans to suspend its energy agreements with Iran, confirming the continuation of strategic cooperation between the two nations.
The Operative Information Center-OMM reports that Russian Energy Minister Sergey Tsivilev made these remarks to journalists during the Energoprom-2026 forum. The minister emphasized that the existing framework for cooperation remains stable despite shifting global dynamics.
"We will not cancel the energy contracts we have signed with Iran," Tsivilev stated. "We will further develop these energy agreements based on our principles of energy justice and technological sovereignty." The minister's comments highlight a focus on long-term bilateral projects aimed at strengthening the energy infrastructure of both countries.
The energy partnership between Moscow and Tehran has intensified in recent years, focusing on oil and gas swaps, power grid synchronization, and the development of nuclear energy. This cooperation is viewed as a critical component of Russia's broader strategy to pivot toward regional partners and ensure technological independence in the energy sector. The Energoprom-2026 forum serves as a platform for discussing such international alliances and the future of global energy security.
