Russia, as the presiding country of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) in 2026, attaches great importance to the development of the organization's security component.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that these remarks were made by Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Pankin.
He stated that the upcoming plans focus on increasing the combat potential of the CSTO collective forces.
"We attach great importance to the development of the organization's security component. We plan to focus on increasing the combat potential of the CSTO collective forces and equipping them with modern and compatible weapons and equipment,"Pankin noted.
According to Pankin, the work will be structured in accordance with the nature of current and future challenges, taking into account the experience of modern military operations. The Deputy Foreign Minister also emphasized that during its one-year chairmanship of the CSTO, Russia will pay special attention to the development of the aviation component.
The CSTO is an intergovernmental military alliance in Eurasia that consists of several post-Soviet states. The organization aims to strengthen peace, international and regional security, and stability, as well as the collective protection of the independence, territorial integrity, and sovereignty of its member states. Russia's upcoming chairmanship in 2026 is expected to prioritize the integration of advanced military technologies and the enhancement of rapid reaction capabilities to address regional threats.
